Nomination Criteria
The following criteria will be used to select Jewish 8th or 9th grade students for induction in the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society:
- Students must be Jewish 8th or 9th graders who have shown leadership potential
- Students must maintain a minimum of a B+/88 average
- Students must demonstrate emotional stability and maturity
- Students must excel in one or more of the following: sports, music, the arts, community service, and/or Jewish involvement
- Students must be nominated by school personnel, a Rabbi or other Jewish community professional, camp director, a coach, and/or a family friend
- Students will be evaluated based on their academic performance, connection to Judaism, leadership skills and extra-curricular involvement.
- Students must submit a transcript from the current school year and complete their Student Application Form
- The American Hebrew Academy Honor Society Committee will gather to evaluate all nominees’ applications. Decisions will be rendered by January 20, 2012, and inductees will be notified by January 30th. Each student inducted into the honor society will be invited to tour campus and to compete for one of five (5) merit-based scholarships to attend the American Hebrew Academy.
